Today kicked off Round 5 of chemo, easy peasy. As my nurse guided me to my seat, he told me I would be in lucky chair number 13, which was a somewhat more secluded seat outside of the general chemo infusion area. He asked if I was okay with it as he’s had a patient decline sitting there due. Jess pointed out the black cat standing on a number 13 tattoo that I have and we laughed.

I used to actually be triskaidekaphobic (that’s fear of the number 13). Friday the 13ths would give me anxiety and I always felt like bad stuff happened to me. I might have been someone to request sitting somewhere different if I was assigned seat 13 at that time.

Then I started getting tattoos and learned about the flash tattoo tradition many shops have on Friday the 13ths. Most of the time you can get special flash tattoos or piercings at a discount price. Having something fun to do and having it associated with a world that I love completely turned around my feeling about the number 13. Now, even when I am not getting a cool tattoo out of it, I find 13 to be lucky and charged with good vibes 🙌🏻 So I felt it was a lucky sign and a turnaround to my rushed, anxious morning to get chair 13.

I had an early chemo day and ended up waking up a tad later than I wanted to. As I rushed to get ready, I wasn’t really feeling like it was a funky headband day, so nothing fun to share in that regard. A nurse even came by to see me, to check out what I was rocking for the day but I ensured her I’d have one next time. I really like that the team there is getting to know me and getting something out of my fun headbands.

Chemo went well and seemed to go by pretty quickly. I got a little snooze at the end and then also knocked out for a nice nap once I got home. I’m feeling good, just getting my usual dry mouth as a side effect

My friends and I have done more planning sessions together for Paris. I’m excited to be working with my cousin-in-law Lauren who is a travel advisor. She’s one of the coolest people I know and is an expert traveller, always finding the best food and fun things to do, so I can’t wait!

Some things we’re stoked to do in Paris:

  • Catacombs 💀

  • Chocolate and Pastry tour 🍰🍫

  • Louvre in the evening

Have you been to Paris? If so, what are some must-haves, must-dos, or must-eats??

In practice of gratitude and positivity, here are some things that made me happy this week:

  • I got a good comment and rating from a customer at work

  • Having a ton of fun with my French lessos

  • Facetime with my friends 💜

Have a beautiful weekend! 💚
