I spoke to my oncologist after my fever persisted through all other symptoms for almost a whole extra week. I was almost frustrated with myself and my body for still going through it. I truly try to by kind to her (myself), but there are days when it gets more difficult.
My oncologist said it was likely just a reaction to the treatment itself, the immunotherapy drug specifically. That made me feel a lot better, and a little less like I was headed towards another urgent care trip right away.

Today, I started round 3 of chemo. I had been nervous since I haven’t felt great this past week, but I woke up feeling good and ready to go. I wore a funky headband to have some fun and it definitely generated lots of buzz in the oncology department.
On my way up to the 4th floor where oncology is, I had lots of looks and one person stopped me to tell me they loved my headband. Once I got into my infusion chair, every nurse that passed by stopped to chat and comment on it. Even some head doctor in charge came by to tell me that she loved it, and gave me a wink when I told her “why not have some fun?”

I’m probably still pumped up with chemo day meds but I’m feeling better than I generally have in days, so I take that as a win.
My PET scan is scheduled for later this month, after the second treatment of round 3. PET scan day has been the shining goal this whole time. It’s going to tell us exactly what’s going on in my body, how it’s responding to treatment and how much cancer is left. I’m nervous, of course, that more will be found than originally thought, but that’s not the part I’m focusing on as I look forward.
In practice of gratitude and optimism, here are some things that made me happy this week:
